Nobody ever seems to pick 'The Black Adder' do they?  Series 1 was so different from the rest, I must admit it's the one I watch the least of all.

I actually prefer the first series over the rest. They did rely too much on "you are XXX'ier than a XXX in a XXX" type gag towards the end for my liking. Although, of cause the last episode of the 4th series was a real tear-jerker.

I love One Foot in the Grave too. I was reading somewhere (bit vague sorry - can't exactly remember where) that Victor is such a likeable character because he genuinely wants to be happy, and life just keeps putting obstacles in his way. Mrs Warbuoys cracking open the shell of that crocodile egg is perhaps one of the funniest of all her scenes.

Blackadder I haven't seen for a very long time. Might be time to re-watch a few episodes.

Fear not Gomez -  you will be rescued from the island eventually Smiley

I already quoted this, but my favourite moment in "One Foot..." is probably in the nearly metaphysical car-jam episode, with the Meldrews and Mrs. Warboys stuck in the car for the whole time (behind a horse trailer, of course Wink), when the car mechanics choir (led by Eric Idle) is played on the stereo...

"Victor Meldrew, Victor Meldrew,
he can take it up his bum (up his bum)
He can bugger off to kingdom come!"

I don't know how I survived that, I was paralysed with laughter, and I nearly croaked it when Mrs. Warboys, after a pause of silence, commented...

"They can hold a note rather well... for car mechanics..."

I honestly was beside myself... Grin

I think that's one of the strongest points of "One Foot...", you DO get surprised all the time, there's something hilariously unexpected lurking behind every corner... the garden gnomes massacre... Victor buried up to the neck in his back garden by a disgruntled worker... Mrs. Warboys' wax statue, and the dental work tattoo... oh dear... Grin

I'll never forgive David Renwick, never! Angry

It's actually  "STICK it up his bum"  meaning  "shove it up your arse!" - or "f*** off", a totally different meaning to "TAKE it up his bum", which is how it got through as it is not that bad!!

Hilarious episode though, I love it when the guy in the next car winds up his window to reveal the finger sticking up!
